City of Kranj hosts delegation from sister city Zhangjiakou, China

The City of Kranj welcomed a six-member delegation from its sister city, Zhangjiakou, China. This marked the first visit of a delegation from this 4.7 million-strong city to European soil since the outbreak of the new coronavirus pandemic. Representatives from both cities met in person for the first time since their virtual twinning in December 2021.

Liu Haifeng, the Deputy Mayor of Zhangjiakou, the city that Kranj twinned with remotely during the new coronavirus pandemic, led his team on a working visit to the City of Kranj. Zhangjiakou is known for hosting the latest Winter Olympics (Peking 2022), where a quarter of the Slovenian athletes represented sports clubs from Kranj. Among the medalists were Peter Prevc and Cene Prevc, members of the Triglav Kranj Ski Club, who earned their medals in the ski jumping center constructed with the involvement of the Kranj-based company, Mana Original.

During their visit to Kranj, the Chinese delegation learned more about the operations of both Kranj high schools: the Confucius Classroom at Kranj High school and France Prešeren High school. They also familiarized themselves with the functioning of Kovačnica - the business incubator of Kranj, the Center for Sustainable Mobility, and the SOS Proteus Information Center.
