The exhibition 'Kranj in the Mission Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities'

City of Kranj (CoK) has set the exhibition 'Kranj in the Mission Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities' in front of the Kranj City Library. This is also a way for the City of Kranj to show people what measures could be taken to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the coming years. Among other things, Kranj plans to expand green and recreational areas, improve public transport and harness renewable energy. At the same time, a new website has been launched to showcase the mission in Kranj.

Kranj is one of the 112 cities selected by the European Commission for the 2022 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission. The aim of these cities is to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 through a range of measures and to find good practices for other EU cities. The Climate City Contact (CCC) of Kranj foresees actions in the fields of energy, transport, waste management, the built environment and green infrastructure, including digital tools to help record and analyse data and make people's daily lives easier. In the coming years, the CoK will work with the state, the (local) economy, public institutions and other organisations, and citizens to achieve this ambitious goal.

Together on the road

The exhibition, set up by the CoK in cooperation with TAM TAM and is an overture to this year's ECO Week, presents the key highlights of the mission in Kranj and the UP-SCALE pilot project, which supports the mission's objectives by providing solutions in the field of sustainable or active mobility. The exhibition focuses on sustainable measures and practices that citizens can implement in their lives for the benefit of the environment and an even better quality of life.

"Every one of us can contribute to a better future, and together we can make our city an even greener, cleaner, less noisy and more resilient city to (climate) challenges, and our everyday life healthier and more pleasant," said Matjaž Rakovec, Mayor of the CoK, welcoming the exhibition.

New website and logo

Alongside the exhibition, a new municipal website about the mission in Kranj was launched, presenting more concretely Kranj's CCC and the support of partners, for which Kranj has received an award from the European Commission - the EU Mission Label. There is also information on what EU missions are, news, useful links ... and the content will be upgraded, updated, added ...

In addition, the CoK has designed a special logo 'Kranj 2030', which represents the direction of Kranj towards a sustainable, better future: the Sustainable Urban Strategy of Kranj, the Municipal Integrated Transport Strategy are also aligned with the mission objectives, and the Digital Development Strategy of Kranj will soon be upgraded.
