Deputy mayors
Janez Černe
On 20 December 2018, the Mayor of the Municipality of Kranj, Matjaž Rakovec, appointed Janez Černe the Deputy Mayor. He performs the function of Deputy Mayor professionally.
Janez Černe was born on December 5, 1982, in Kranj. He lived in the Planina district and attended the Jakob Aljaž Primary School. He has been striving for a better tomorrow in Kranj since his early youth. After graduating, he received an award for outstanding work in raising the reputation of the Kranj Secondary School, which he attended.
He graduated in political science at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana.
He gained most of his professional experience in the field of marketing communication, which has been close to him since his youth, when he organized various concerts and other youth events. He later co-created music videos, films, documentaries and commercials as a producer and director. His interest and work in these areas eventually led him to the position of head of the entire regional production of MTV Adria, after which he became the director of a branch of the international network of marketing agencies JWT.
In his professional career, he also performed other important functions, among others he was the head of the cabinet of the Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and the secretary in the cabinet of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
"Kranj is my birthplace, to which I feel special respect. I am convinced that the third largest Slovenian municipality deserves more. Therefore, as Deputy Mayor, I will actively strive for the development of Kranj and changes for the better,” says Janez Černe, who was elected to the Kranj City Council for the first time in October 2006 and was one of the youngest elected city councillors in the city's history. In the 2018 local elections, he became a city councillor for the third time.
Robert Nograšek
On 1 April 2019, the Mayor of the Municipality of Kranj, Matjaž Rakovec, appointed Robert Nograšek as the second Deputy Mayor.
He oversees individual tasks within the competence of the mayor in the areas of internal organizational units of the City Administration of the Municipality of Kranj, namely the Office for Social Activities (the area of social services and education) and the Mayor's Office (the area of local communities).
Robert Nograšek, born on September 1, 1967, in Kranj, is a university graduate economist with many years of managerial experience in the fields of economy and entrepreneurship. In total, he has more than 29 years of work experience, mainly in the field of finance and marketing. From 2012 onwards, he was self-employed as a financial advisor.
Deputy Mayor Nograšek is intensively working for changes for the better in the local environment. "As Deputy Mayor, I also lead the coordination of cooperation with local communities, which are the basic building blocks of local self-government and are crucial for the well-being of locals. In accordance with the pre-election program of the Mayor of Kranj, Matjaž Rakovec, we want to treat local communities as equal partners in planning the development of the municipality. That is why I spend a lot of time in the field to get to know people's needs as well as possible and help them effectively find solutions. I will always act in the public interest, for the benefit of all citizens,” he said of his work as Deputy Mayor of Kranj.
