The Mayor opened an exhibition about Janez Puhar in Pula

Mayor of the City of Kranj, Matjaž Rakovec, together with the deputy mayor of Pula, Ivona Močenić, opened an exhibition about the inventor of glass photography, Janez Puhar, in the city library of Pula. The exhibition was prepared by Petra Puhar from Kranj and was brought to Croatian Istria in cooperation with the Central Library Celje.

 

The exhibition about Janez Puhar, the world inventor of glass photography, prepared by Petra Puhar from Kranj, presents the life, achievements, and legacy of this talented individual who lived in the 19th century. Since 2014, when the 200th anniversary of Puhar's birth was marked, the exhibition has been traveling in Puhar's footsteps. The public had the opportunity to see it in various locations in Slovenia, as well as during its tours in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Switzerland, and Croatia.

 

Slovenian Cultural Society Istra Pula provided the cultural program for the opening of the exhibition in the city library of Pula. The exhibition will be available for viewing until May 26, 2023.

 

"Kranj follows modern European trends, such as sustainability and smart cities, on one hand, and preserves its history and cultural heritage on the other. It is precisely in the latter that we encounter Janez Puhar, the inventor of glass photography, whom we are very proud of. We are delighted to have the opportunity to present such a prominent figure in Pula, a city with a rich history that respects tradition and culture," said Mayor of the City of Kranj Matjaž Rakovec during the exhibition opening. On this occasion, he was also welcomed by the leadership of the municipality of Pula. Kranj and Pula have been collaborating since the 1960s.
